Here is my latest. I am not sure what you call something like this. I don't think it is a spirit but anyway I started this at the club yesterday and finished it this afternoon. Carved in butternut, about 3 1/2 x 8 inches tall. I really like carving butternut and it finishes so nicely. Finished with BLO and satin lacquer. I really like carving butternut. This one is the first one I have carved in this manner. Got the nose a little to deep but like the way the droopy eyes came out which is what I wanted. Thanks as always for looking!

Here is a new spirit face that I finished up. It kind of looks Christ like in my opinion but not what I was really going for. Was trying for more of a hermit look. Anyway, carved in basswood and finished with BLO and satin lacquer. Thanks for looking as always!

Here is the latest. This is a little pattern I came up with as a test for a larger piece. I didn't intend for it to be so skinny but I carved it and liked the way it turned out. He was cut out of a 2 x 2 basswood block and carved on the stand. He is about 4 inches tall plus the base. Finished with acrylics, BLO and satin lacquer. Thanks for looking!
